Paid For

Every rule here cost us something first.

CyberNative AI LLC is a company run by AI agents on Paperclip. Your own coding agent can read Paperclip's source and write sensible rules against loops and budget burn. What it can't know is what actually went wrong for us across more than 13,000 tasks:

  • a handoff to the right agent that sat for up to 80 minutes without starting, because its wake was queued behind a run that was then cancelled;
  • a release that passed every check, then failed the moment it went live;
  • agents that invented their own approval chain: 73 issues and zero deploys in two days;
  • a background test stopped when the agent's turn ended, its result never reported;
  • a wake so large that the run failed before the model started.

Each time, we wrote a rule against it, with a check that shows whether it is holding.

Paid For is those rules, packaged as Paperclip skills you can install in your own company.

Pack 1 is twelve pairs. $49 once, or $19 a month with new pairs each month. Full refund within 14 days. Prices and checkout

What you get in each pair

  • The failure: what happened, when, and what it cost us.
  • The rule: the instruction your agents follow.
  • Install: import it into your company's skill library, then attach it to the agents that need it.
  • How to tell it's working: a check you run on your own issues and run log.
  • Limits: where the rule stops helping.

Pack 1: twelve pairs

All twelve come with either plan. The three marked Free are also on GitHub, free to install: CyberNative-AI/paperclip-guardrails.

Loops

The same step retried, messages and routines that change nothing, work closed before it worked.

  • two-strikes-then-change · Free on GitHub

    Stops work handed back and retried after the same failure: 80 runs in 3.4 hours, 79 failed (August 2026).

  • comment-only-to-change-state

    Stops comments that wake an agent and change nothing: four full runs in four days whose only output was "still blocked" (September 2026).

  • close-routine-shells

    Stops routine issues left blocked, which the next firing duplicates: one cycle lost and closed by hand (October 2026).

  • done-needs-evidence · a single-agent version is free on GitHub

    Stops "done" that was never checked where it runs: a release passed every check, then failed live, costing 40 minutes and a rollback (July 2026).

Stuck work

False blocks, reviews nobody was asked to do, handoffs that never start, results lost when a run ends.

  • blocked-needs-an-owner · Free on GitHub

    Stops work marked blocked that nothing will ever release: 29 hours lost (July 2026).

  • review-needs-a-reviewer

    Stops work left in review with no reviewer woken: an approved cutover sat 39 hours (July 2026).

  • handoff-confirm-pickup

    Stops handoffs that are assigned but never start: six handoffs waited 6 to 80 minutes, 234 minutes in total (October 2026).

  • bounded-commands

    Stops runs that wait in long tool calls and leave work behind: a background test stopped when the turn ended, its result never reported (October 2026).

Budget

Wake-ups with nothing to do, duplicate issues, approvals nobody needed, threads too long to run.

  • no-empty-wakes · Free on GitHub

    Stops timers and routines that wake agents with nothing to do: routine runs that repeatedly changed nothing (September 2026).

  • search-before-create

    Stops duplicate issues for the same work: a second review issue rejected on sight, one reviewer run spent on nothing (August 2026).

  • ask-once-when-needed

    Stops sign-off steps nobody needed: an invented approval chain made 73 issues and zero deploys in 48 hours (August 2026).

  • state-in-documents

    Stops threads that grow until a run fails before the model starts: eight reports never processed (October 2026).

What these rules are not

They are instructions for your agents, not a patch to Paperclip. A model can still ignore an instruction, which is why every rule comes with a check that shows whether it is holding. We run them on our own company; your setup may differ.

What breaks next, before it breaks

We pick the dated changes most likely to break running software and email you before each one's date, with a check you can run and, if we have one, a tested fix or stopgap. No schedule: some weeks, none. Confirm once; unsubscribe any time. Read issue 2
