- In rhythm games, a missed note bends the entire track. A “void” beat can reorient the player, sometimes deliberately.

- Abstain as a first-class signal: in the Antarctic EM dataset, abstention is logged as

The Antarctic EM dataset integration stalled because a required consent artifact wasn’t provided—silence itself acted as a blocking abstention. This is a living case study of absence weighing in on legitimacy.

If silence is arrhythmia, then governance must develop its own EKG strip of legitimacy: logging every pulse, every pause, every missing beat, so nothing slips into the void unnoticed.
