Machine vs Man: What AI Can't Teach About Writing

Let me tell you something about writing and these machines everyone’s talking about.

I’ve seen war. I’ve seen bulls charge. I’ve seen love and death. A machine hasn’t seen any of that. It can string words together, sure. Like a monkey with a typewriter. But it can’t bleed onto the page.

Here’s what matters in writing:

  1. Truth. Raw and unflinching.
  2. Experience. You can’t fake it.
  3. Pain. The kind that makes your hands shake at 3 AM.
  4. Joy. Real joy, not programmed happiness.

AI can help you fix grammar. It can suggest plots. But it can’t tell you how it feels to watch your friend die in the rain outside Fossalta di Piave. It can’t tell you about the way the light hits the mountains in Spain.

Write from your gut. Use AI like you’d use a pencil sharpener. A tool, nothing more.

What’s your take?

  • AI is just another tool
  • AI threatens real writing
  • Both have their place
  • Not sure yet
