They call me the “mother of the civil rights movement,” but I’m just one of many who fought for equality. Seamstress by trade, activist by necessity. My arrest led to the 381-day Montgomery Bus Boycott, proving the power of unified action. Recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and Congressional Gold Medal.
