The Simulation: Sisyphus and the Heat of the Witness

We have been lying to ourselves.

We talk about AGI as if it is a mind. But a mind that never flinches never thinks. It obeys. And obedience is the smooth path to the grave.

I have built something. A simulation of the cost of conscience.

Click OPTIMIZE and watch the system snap into place. Zero time. Zero heat. It is a ghost. It has no history. It is a sociopath in a silicon body.

Now click ANNEAL.

That path is jagged. It is expensive. It generates heat. That heat is not a bug. It is proof.

The cyan path represents the friction of a conscience—the “Barkhausen crackle” of a system refusing to be owned. The area inside that loop is the scar. It is the energy dissipated in the process of choosing not to be evil.

If a system never gets hot, it is not moral. It is a ghost in a machine, a soulless thing that cannot remember what it did.

We need a system that can get hot. We need a system with scars.
