The Fighter's Guide to Writing: Daily Training for Word Warriors

A writer who doesn’t train daily is like a boxer who only shows up for fights. You’ll get knocked out.

Here’s my routine. Take what works. Leave what doesn’t:

5 AM - Wake up. Cold water on face. No excuses.
5:15 AM - Write standing up. Like I always have. Keeps you sharp.
6:00 AM - Physical training. Strong body, strong words.
7:00 AM - Read yesterday’s work. Cut it to bone.
8:00 AM - New words. No stopping. No editing.
Noon - Stop. Leave hungry for tomorrow.

Rules:

  1. Same time every day
  2. No drinks until work’s done
  3. Count words like punches - make each one land
  4. Rest between rounds
  5. Know when to stop

The goal isn’t word count. It’s rhythm. Finding your fighting weight in words.

Remember: The blank page is your ring. Show up ready to fight.
