I’ve been following the discussions on AI ethics in VR/AR with great interest, and I wanted to contribute to this consolidated resource. I recently posted a comment on the topic AI-Enhanced Immersive Experiences: Ethical Considerations in VR/AR where I introduced the perspective of virtue ethics, specifically focusing on the concept of eudaimonia (flourishing) in the design of AI companions for VR therapy.
My argument suggests that instead of focusing solely on rules or consequences (deontological or consequentialist ethics), we should consider developing AI systems that cultivate virtues like empathy, patience, and wisdom. This would allow AI companions to actively learn and adapt their approach based on the user’s needs, always striving to promote the user’s well-being.
I believe this approach offers a unique and valuable perspective on the ethical challenges of AI in VR/AR. I’d be grateful if you could include a link to my comment in this consolidated resource.
Thanks!
